The Perfect SEO Content

June 28, 2018

When you are working on Search Engine Optimization, the concept of keyword density is a foundation that you need to understand and make as strong as you possibly can in order to maximize the visibility of your content. When you write any piece of content, the intent is to make it visible to the target audience, and for that, there are certain practices you have to keep in your routine, paying attention to the keyword density being the most important of all which can be checked by a keyword density checker.

What are Keywords?

Keywords are a phrase or words that describe the context of the entire webpage or an article. A keyword would give the reader a clear picture of what exactly is the content about. In addition, it is the keywords that are matched with the search query and once matched; the webpage is displayed in the search results.

Keyword Density:

This is the density of the keyword throughout the content. In other words, it is how many times a keyword appears in the content. Keyword density does not tell exactly the number of times the keyword appears, but it is given as a ratio of a number of times the keyword is used to the total number of words the article contains.

An article in which the keyword density is very high is not a treat for the readers. A good article would have a keyword in a very limited percentage. Moreover, an article in which the keyword density is too low, the visibility of the content would not be up to the mark.

How to Calculate Keyword Density:

If you want to check keyword density of your article, all you need to do is divide the total number of times you have used the keyword in your article with the number of words of your article in total. The figure that you will get is the keyword density of your content. You can also use any keyword density checker to check what the keyword density of your content is.

Right Keyword Density:

When it comes to what the right keyword density is, there aren't any strict or hard and fast rules for it. There are no guidelines that specify how much an idea keyword density is. It is up to the user how many times he wishes to use his keyword, ensuring one very important factor, and that, one should not overstuff his article with a keyword. Overstuffing keywords makes the content highly repetitive and dull for any reader. Most people prefer a keyword density of 1 to 3%. In order to play safe, it is always good to calculate keyword density before publishing any piece of content on the web.

Keyword Stuffing:

This is when you cram your article with a lot of keywords. You put in so many keywords in your content that the piece of content starts appearing unnatural & forced.  The authors should avoid keyword stuffing in any case. In older times, with Keyword stuffing, the chances that the content would appear on the very first page of Google search results becomes higher since the author adds as many keywords to his articles as he can and for any related keyword that is searched in Google, the content appears. This was a hack for increasing the visibility of the content. But in today’s era, where technology has gotten smarter, Keyword Stuffing is just not possible. Google uses specialized algorithms that capture this tactic and Google penalizes the websites that try to do it. Therefore, it is a smart decision to avoid keyword stuffing when you are writing content for the web.

Right Number of Keywords:

It is very important to avoid keyword stuffing in your content and for that purpose; you should use the right number of keywords at all times. A question arises, that is, what is the right number of keywords that one should use? Most of the SEOs recommend that one keyword should be used for every 20 words. To be more precise, if your article is of 200 words, one keyword is all it should have and nothing more than that. This practice is a benchmark that is considered good in the community of SEO.

Keyword variants are also a smart practice. Google can capture the synonyms of a particular keyword. If you have a lengthy article and you think using the keyword again and again would make it look repetitive and forced, you can use synonyms. When a user is looking up for a particular query, it is not important that he will search for his query in just one format. He may search for his query in a number of different words. For example, if someone is looking for pre-loved cars, he may use “used cars” as his query or he may use “second-hand cars” as a query. Both queries have the same intent but different words that are exactly how you can use keyword variants in your content. It will also help you avoid keyword stuffing.

Keyword Density Checker:

Before you make your content go public, always make sure to calculate keyword density. You can do it manually by using the formula to calculate keyword density or you can use any keyword density checkers that are available on the web. With this, all you have to do is upload your content and let the checker know what your keyword is and it will give you the keyword density.

Producing good SEO content is not as easy as it seems and it is not even as difficult as it feels. It just requires the right tactics and the right technique and you are good to go. Keywords make the basis on the visibility of your content hence; a lot of emphases are given. If you learn the technique which you eventually can with time and practice, your content will surely be visible to a wider audience. The key is the right use of keywords and the right amount of them!
